In spring, migratory birds return to the distant north to breed new lives, the little birds await their growth, flying out of their nests, and also await the next season to fly to the beautiful south.

"Birdling" gently introduces the story through a first-person narrative, with a recurring synthesizer melody that resembles the flapping wings of a newborn bird, and the longing for flying becomes vivid among the notes. The wordless singing sections seem like montages of growth, eventually transforming into a gentle declaration of "not afraid of any pain / enjoying the freedom of moving". With a melody filled with hope, it brings a lingering ending to the song.

In Chinese, we are accustomed to calling the little birds "小鸟xiǎo niǎo". These delicate elves, with their pleasant chirps and nimble movements, struggle in the cages of the city but carry people's aspirations for freedom and the distant places.

Two years ago in my city, we were struggling with anger and anxiety, and I wrote this song. Today, it finally "flies" out like a bird, taking the memories to embark on the routes.

Please have a listen to it for me, my dear friends. It's probably one of my favorite songs I've written in the last two years. I am so glad to share it with you on the International Bird Loving Day.
